Review and Swatches: NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!

So I can't wait to try out this awesome NARS Lipgloss that I have heard so much about it. I am not a big fan of lip products, I am more like a nude lips person. I usually go out with just bare lips or concealed lips and a thin layer of Vaseline petroleum jelly to keep my lips moisturize. But I wanted to top some colors on my bare or nude lips to look more refresh and less sick.

I went on Sephora website and checked out different kinds of lip products which suit me the best. There are tons. I didn't know which should I get so I'm thinking of hmm maybe just a lipgloss because it can be very pigmented if you pick a good one and it also keeps my lips moisturize. I think lipstick will be too dry for me as I always have chap lips. So I picked up this NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm. *blush*

There are 23 shades of lipgloss ranging from transparent to deep red, with or without shimmer. I picked the peachy pink color with gold shimmer in it. I was debating of getting Orgasm or Super Orgasm. Super Orgasm has gold flecks in it which is what I actually wanted. I always think coral and gold is a great combination for lip color. So I swatched both color on my arm and Super Orgasm looks darker and more pinkish than Orgasm. I wish it has more gold flecks in the shade Orgasm

Peachy Pink with Gold Shimmer

It is a very sweet and girly color. It is one of the most popular shades for NARS Lipgloss. The gold shimmer makes your lips feel metallic instead of glossy and I love that. It is also very pigmented and you just need to apply one thin coat on your lips. The lasting power is good as if you skip all your meals in a day, not too impressive. I need a touch up every time after I eat. The packaging is very simple but classy. It is a glazed glassy little tube with rubberized holder.

The only two things I am not satisfy with this product is it smells weird. It has some sort of paint smell and I have never smelled in any beauty product. For some reason I thought it would have some sweet or candy smell. Other downside is I personally think the lipgloss is very sticky. I would definitely want something less sticky and lighter formula.

Here are the swatches of the NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm on my lips. The first swatch I did was on my bare lips, only with a thin layer of transparent Vaseline petroleum jelly. Second swatch was on my half concealed lips. I applied BB cream on the outer lips to create a gradient look. Last swatch was on my full concealed lips. I put BB cream all over my lips to create a nude look. I topped the lipgloss to make my lips look less 'sick'.

Haul: Benefit, NARS, Topshop

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday. I hope you guys had a great weekend :)

I picked up some beauty products in Sephora and Topshop last week. I haven't had the chance to try them out yet so I will let you guys know if it is worth the hype soon. I might do some product reviews on these stuffs too probably in couple weeks so don't forget to check it out!

So I went to Topshop to shop for some clothes but ended up purchasing this metallic nail polish trio. It doesn't really show in the picture but the color is burgundy, orange glitter and bronze. I love these color so much and thanks my bf for choosing the color for me. I usually do manicure update every other week so you will definitely see these pretty colors on my nails in my future post.

I also went to Sephora and got these Benefit 'Gettin' Cheeky!' and NARS lipgloss in Orgasm. Benefit Gettin' Cheeky is only exclusive in Sephora. It has Posietint, Sun Beam and Chacha-tint in a little box. The packaging is so cute, trust me, Benefit always has the cutest packaging ever. They come in travel size and it is 0.3oz each. It is so convenient that you can just put it in your purse and get a touch up every couple hours. Posietint and Chacha-tint can be used as cheek tint or lip tint. The color is so bright and lovely. Posietint has a very petal pinkish tone and Chacha-tint has a coral based tone. Sun Beam is a medium golden toned liquid bronzer.

The last product I picked up is the NARS lipgloss. It has 23 shades and I chose the shade in orgasm. It has a very 'blushing' name huh. I have seen a lot of bloggers or youtubers obsessed with this lipgloss and I wanna give it a try! I will definitely do a review on this lipgloss.

Review: Soap & Glory Products

Hi everyone!

I picked up some Soap & Glory (S&G) products at Sephora couple weeks ago :) After almost a month of trying, I'm gonna share with you guys how I feel about these products. It was my first time using S&G.

From left to right: Pulp Friction Foamy Fruity Body Scrub, The Righteous Butter Body Lotion, Hand Food, Face Soap Clarity

I was gonna get body scrub and Soap & Glory came to my mind. So I browsed some of the body scrubs S&G has, I got the Pulp Friction Foamy Fruity Body Scrub. The packaging is cute, it's a pink chubby tube. It's 8.4 oz or 250 ml. It has coarse beads in there so I personally think it works pretty well on me. My skin feels smooth after. It smells really good. The Pulp has a strong fruity smell.

I also got The Righteous Butter Body Lotion. I want a lotion that smells really good and wish it stays all day and this is what I wanted! It is thick, just like its name- butter lotion, it's definitely thicker than lotion and I think it is as thick as body butter. It smells gorgeous! It has some sort of rose smell mix with other floral scents. Trust me the smell lasts all day/night long! I usually put the lotion after I shower before I go to bed and it still smells very good when I get up in the morning! The scent gets on my clothes and I found out it still smells great couple days later. If I had to shower in the morning, I will use the lotion as my 'perfume'. Its scent might be too strong at the beginning when you first put it on but later it kind of fade away and stay. I love how it absorbs into my skin real fast, I hate the sticky texture after applying lotion but this leaves me with a smooth skin without feeling any stickiness on my skin. For its price I think it's pretty reasonable for how much the products you get in the bottle, it has 16.2 oz or 500 ml in a bottle with a pump. The pump comes with a lock so it is very convenient to put in a suitcase when you go on a trip without worrying it will leak.

The third S&G product I picked up is the Hand Food. I got the travel size which is 1.69 oz r 50 ml which costs me only $5. It is a hand cream in a pink tube just like the body scrub but a mini version of it. I still have my L'occitane hand cream and I got this just to try it out. It smells very similar to the body lotion but the scent is less strong and it smells much sweeter. The texture is very light but very moisturize. It doesn't leave the sticky feel after you apply. The travel size is very convenient as you can just throw it in your purse and carry wherever you go!

The last product I got is a face cleanser called Face Soap Clarity. I also got the travel size because my face is very sensitive and I wanna try out before I purchase the regular size. However, this cleanser doesn't work on me. It breaks my face out every time I use it. I wanted to love it because it has very tiny beads in it as a daily face scrub. It smells very minty and a tiny weeny hint of fruity scent. It might work on your skin type but it is just not my face wash. It is a 1oz or 30 ml transparent tube.

Overall, I think Soap and Glory has many good products and I will definitely try out other products in the future! Their packaging is very cute too :)

**I purchased all the Soap and Glory products I mentioned in the post, none of them are sent to me for product review.

Review: Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion

Hi everyone!

I've been using Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion for almost a year and now I'm gonna share with you guys how awesome this BB cream is. It comes with one case of BB cream and also a refillable pack. I'm now using the fourth case!

I don't put much makeup on my face on a daily makeup routine. I want some coverage but not too much like a foundation. My sister recommended me this and I was like wow this is the one. This BB cream comes in 3 shades. Its coverage is more like from light to medium and it's buildable which is just perfect for school or work. It has SPF 50+ PA+++ in it so I can skip my sunscreen step in my daily makeup routine. It is very long lasting, believe me, I have it on my face in the morning when I go to class and when I come home after work at night, it doesn't wear off by my sweat or oil. Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion has a very unique feature which is its refreshing and cooling sensation when you apply the BB cream on your face. It is proved that your skin temperature will decrease by 3 degree Celsius when you put it on your face. This is because the cushion (puff) they use has 800,000 tiny pores to lock up the water and hydrate your skin while wearing makeup.

I only wear this BB cream when I go to school or work which I would say like 4-5 days a week and one case lasts me for whole semester, about 4 months.

I hope you guys enjoy reading and hopefully everyone can find their perfect foundation base!

Daily Skincare Routine

Hi everyone :)

Today I'm gonna share with you guys about my daily skincare routine. I have acne-prone/combination skin type and it usually gets drier in the winter.

All the products I'm using now are from Laneige. It is a Korean company and its products can be easily found in the states or other asian countries. There is a Laneige store in Hmart in Niles, IL. I believe it is the one closest to where I live. Also, www.yesstyle.com also carries all Laneige products.

Okay, lets get started. I cleanse my face using white plus renew foam cleanser twice a day. I chose foam type because it is convenient and half a pump is enough for one use. After cleansing, I will apply power essential skin refiner light. It is a light version toner. It has a very fresh and comfortable scent. I will then put on some balancing emulsion light, which I use it as moisturizer. It doesn't feel oily at all and it absorbs very fast into your skin. I like its lightweight texture and the feeling of refresh after apply onto your skin. Next I will apply a thin layer of water bank essence on my face. It keeps my skin hydrated for at least 12 hours. In the winter, I will add in this step: apply water bank gel cream. My skin will tend to be drier in the winter and adding moisture is very important to keep my skin hydrated. Lastly, I will apply this water sleeping pack before I go to sleep for deeply moisturizing. This step is not a daily routine, I will say 3 times a week is good. When I put on make up on my face, I will use this deep cleansing oil refresh to remove all my make ups before cleansing step.

Left to right: Deep cleansing oil refresh, white plus renew foam cleanser, power essential skin refiner light, balancing emulsion light, water bank essence, water bank gel cream, water sleeping pack.
So this is my daily skincare routine. I hope you guys enjoy reading this post and I'll update more often :)

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Happy weekend everyone :)

I'm writing this post to show you guys how to clean and disinfect your makeup brushes. As I know a lot of people usually don't clean their brushes often or NEVER cleaned it! Eww...
The amount of bacteria on your makeup brushes could be as much as the the bacteria on your toilet! Okay I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean. You should do daily cleaning/every time when you use those brushes and also deep cleaning like once every week.

My makeup brushes.

Professional makeup brushes are an investment. If you clean the brushes often and use them right, they can last for years. Also, it is very important to clean the new brushes. You might think ohh it is brand new and unused I can just use it right away. This is a big no-no. Dust or some chemicals might get to the brushes when they are made or packaged. So it is very important to clean your new brushes before using them. You don't want to get breakouts from dirty brushes.

There are couple ways to clean your brushes daily. It is just depends on whichever way you think is more convenient or cheaper. I used to use cleansing wipes to wipe off the remaining makeup on the brushes before I use them. Now I got my daily brush cleanser from Sephora. I really like it because it has anti-bacterial formula in it. I spray it onto my brushes and tap dry before using them. This product works very well. I usually spray directly onto the small brushes because they dry so fast. For big brushes like powder or blush brush, I spray the cleanser on tissue paper and and swipe the brushes on it. You can also get alcohol wipes to clean the brushes before you use them. It helps to clean and also sanitize the brushes. The best part is you don't need to wait for the brushes to dry! I thought of getting the alcohol wipes when I run out of my daily brush cleaner because that is way cheaper.

Use wet wipes to wipe off remaining makeup for daily cleaning.

For deep cleaning, I am using the purifying brush shampoo, also from Sephora. I bought it with the daily cleaner. But any mild face cleanser or baby shampoo will work too and they are a lot cheaper. I bought the Sephora one just to try out if it is better but for me face cleanser and baby shampoo work fine. So I don't think I'll repurchase when it runs out. First, pour very little amount (like the size of pea) of shampoo/cleanser into a bowl, add little water, swirl your brushes couple times until bubbly, rinse off the shampoo/cleaner each time you clean a different brush. There is no harm to wash the brushes for few times as long as they are clean and disinfect.

This is a new brush and the water
turns blackish.
Swirl brush couple times and rinse
with warm water.

To dry your brushes, lay flat a clean towel, roll another small tower and put on top of the flat towel. Put the handle of the brushes on the rolled towel with the tip facing downwards. Let them air dry. Don't forget to dry the brushes thoroughly before you use them.

Dry brushes on a clean towel with the tip facing down.

People always find excuses and hesitate to clean their brushes because it takes time, they don't have the cleaning materials, they don't put make up everyday, they are busy and etc...
Cleaning and disinfecting the make up brushes are very important and it prolongs the brushes' life and makes your skin free from dirt and bacteria while putting makeup on. Also, tools like eyeliner brush,  mascara wand and eyelash curler have to be cleaned or sanitized everyday because your eyes might get infection from bacteria.

So be hardworking cleaning your brushes and makeup tools at least every other day and deep clean once a week. Ohh and don't forget to clean you brush bag/case too! It is no use if you clean all your brushes and put them back in a dirty brush bag/case.

**I do not own high end brushes like MAC, Bobbi Brown or even Sigma because I think they are way too expensive for a college kid like me. Also I don't put on makeup everyday so I think it's okay for me to use affordable brushes. Brushes in the pictures are from e.l.f, UD and some over the counter brands.

Thank you for reading and I hope you guys have a great weekend. Bye :)

My Favorite Makeups

Happy Wednesday everyone :)

When I was browsing Sephora website earlier, I thought of an idea of posting my favorite makeups here and also some short reviews.
My favorite makeups :)
So I'm gonna start off from the face. Before I put any makeup on my face, I'll apply the MUFE HD Microperfecting primer. I have large pores around my nose area, and when you put on the primer, it kind of smooths out my skin and blurs out the pores to make it less obvious. It is light weight and non oily which is perfect for oily/combination/acne prone skin. I'll then apply my Chanel Perfection Lumiere liquid foundation. Its coverage is medium and buildable. This foundation has a matte finish. It smells really good too. However, it doesn't last all day without a primer so if you would like to skip primer, it is better to choose a longer lasting foundation. I have blemishes so I need a good concealer and I found this Bobbi Brown touch up stick has good coverage and it doesn't cake my face indeed it is very moisturize. Occasionally, I'll contour my face with Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder in milk chocolate shade. I don't put bronzer evry time I have makeup on my face, it just depends on how much time I have and where I'm heading to. This bronzer is made from real cocoa so it smells exactly like chocolate. My face smells so good every time I put it on. The shade is perfect for my light skin tone. Sometimes I'll put it all over my face to have a sun-kissed look. Next it's my favorite MAC powder blush in shade fleur power. I don't like Barbie pink blush so this coral-peachy pink is the perfect pink for blusher. It is very long lasting and doesn't dry out the skin.

For the eye makeups, I like to keep it clean and simple. I usually just use my Shiseido eyelash curler and apply few coats of Lancome Definicils mascara. I do not own a lot of mascaras. I got the Lancome on with the eyeliner on Black Friday sale. So I can't really do any comparisons but this mascara's lengthening power is pretty good and it doesn't clump. When I need to do heavier eye makeups, the Urban Decay eye potion primer is my lifesaver! I have monolids and any eyeliner that says smudge proof will smudge on my eyelids. So applying the eye potion primer is a must for me. I'm sure everyone owns couple eyeliners and my favorite pencil eyeliners are MAC Kohl pencil, Tarte skinny waterproof liner and Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on pencil. They have the smoothest eyeliner that glide on your eyelids with ease. It stays on pretty well too. There are many color choices, matte or metallic. Eyeko skinny liquid liner has a very skinny tip so you can create any size of liner. I have been watching Jen from head to toe and she uses this liquid liner a lot so I gave it a try and love it. The UD Naked2 palette is one of my new favorite. It was out for a while but I just got it last Christmas and I love it. This palette is a mix of matte and metallic shadows and all the shades are good for any occasions from school to cocktail dinner. The only downside is the excess shadows will fall on your lower eyes so do not apply too much shadows. It is very pigmented and long wearing so a little bit will do. Most importantly, the eye brow. You can't have pretty eye makeup and skip the brow part, it just looks weird without brows. I like to use the Sephora Collection retractable brow pencil because I don't need to sharp the pencil tip when it wears off and it's very convenient.

I don't like to use lipstick as it feels sticky and dry. I like the Benefit Benetint. Lipstain doesn't feel dry or sticky at all, it feels just like bare lips without any makeup. The rosie pink stain looks very natural. If you have any dinner or event to attend, just layer it as it is buildable.

So, this is it! They are all my favorite makeups and I have tried all of them and like 'em. I hope you guys enjoy reading I know this is kind of long but I hope it helps when it comes to choosing makeups.
