Anniversary date ♥

It was our 2-year anniversary on Monday. It fell on a school day amd we have midterm coming up so we couldn't really go anywhere to celebrate it big and the road was pretty icey to drive so we decided to go to a japanese restaurant nearby our school. Derek gave me a little surprise and bought me roses kkkkkkkk :)

We ordered agedashi tofu, tuna avacado salad and miso soup as appetizers. We both love agedashi tofu so much! That's like something we must order when we go to japanese restaurant. We got hot sake, it was our first time having sake it tasted like soju but a smoother version. We didn't order any entree but 5 sushi rolls. I love sushi rolls *drooling*

The chef made us 1 of the wrong roll and gave us another roll for free yay! The waiter then gave us japanese beer for free.

We felt so bloated after dinner. That was so much foods and we finished all 6 rolls of sushi and appetizers!

Homemade Pizza Bites

Tonight's appetizer: yummy pizza bites made by my boyfriend.

Well not really, I made the bolognese sauce and that's like the most important part of the pizza bites. Hehehee. But he did a very good job! It was so perfect. The outer crust was so crispy and the inside was really soft.

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Happy weekend everyone :)

I'm writing this post to show you guys how to clean and disinfect your makeup brushes. As I know a lot of people usually don't clean their brushes often or NEVER cleaned it! Eww...
The amount of bacteria on your makeup brushes could be as much as the the bacteria on your toilet! Okay I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean. You should do daily cleaning/every time when you use those brushes and also deep cleaning like once every week.

My makeup brushes.

Professional makeup brushes are an investment. If you clean the brushes often and use them right, they can last for years. Also, it is very important to clean the new brushes. You might think ohh it is brand new and unused I can just use it right away. This is a big no-no. Dust or some chemicals might get to the brushes when they are made or packaged. So it is very important to clean your new brushes before using them. You don't want to get breakouts from dirty brushes.

There are couple ways to clean your brushes daily. It is just depends on whichever way you think is more convenient or cheaper. I used to use cleansing wipes to wipe off the remaining makeup on the brushes before I use them. Now I got my daily brush cleanser from Sephora. I really like it because it has anti-bacterial formula in it. I spray it onto my brushes and tap dry before using them. This product works very well. I usually spray directly onto the small brushes because they dry so fast. For big brushes like powder or blush brush, I spray the cleanser on tissue paper and and swipe the brushes on it. You can also get alcohol wipes to clean the brushes before you use them. It helps to clean and also sanitize the brushes. The best part is you don't need to wait for the brushes to dry! I thought of getting the alcohol wipes when I run out of my daily brush cleaner because that is way cheaper.

Use wet wipes to wipe off remaining makeup for daily cleaning.

For deep cleaning, I am using the purifying brush shampoo, also from Sephora. I bought it with the daily cleaner. But any mild face cleanser or baby shampoo will work too and they are a lot cheaper. I bought the Sephora one just to try out if it is better but for me face cleanser and baby shampoo work fine. So I don't think I'll repurchase when it runs out. First, pour very little amount (like the size of pea) of shampoo/cleanser into a bowl, add little water, swirl your brushes couple times until bubbly, rinse off the shampoo/cleaner each time you clean a different brush. There is no harm to wash the brushes for few times as long as they are clean and disinfect.

This is a new brush and the water
turns blackish.
Swirl brush couple times and rinse
with warm water.

To dry your brushes, lay flat a clean towel, roll another small tower and put on top of the flat towel. Put the handle of the brushes on the rolled towel with the tip facing downwards. Let them air dry. Don't forget to dry the brushes thoroughly before you use them.

Dry brushes on a clean towel with the tip facing down.

People always find excuses and hesitate to clean their brushes because it takes time, they don't have the cleaning materials, they don't put make up everyday, they are busy and etc...
Cleaning and disinfecting the make up brushes are very important and it prolongs the brushes' life and makes your skin free from dirt and bacteria while putting makeup on. Also, tools like eyeliner brush,  mascara wand and eyelash curler have to be cleaned or sanitized everyday because your eyes might get infection from bacteria.

So be hardworking cleaning your brushes and makeup tools at least every other day and deep clean once a week. Ohh and don't forget to clean you brush bag/case too! It is no use if you clean all your brushes and put them back in a dirty brush bag/case.

**I do not own high end brushes like MAC, Bobbi Brown or even Sigma because I think they are way too expensive for a college kid like me. Also I don't put on makeup everyday so I think it's okay for me to use affordable brushes. Brushes in the pictures are from e.l.f, UD and some over the counter brands.

Thank you for reading and I hope you guys have a great weekend. Bye :)

My Favorite Makeups

Happy Wednesday everyone :)

When I was browsing Sephora website earlier, I thought of an idea of posting my favorite makeups here and also some short reviews.
My favorite makeups :)
So I'm gonna start off from the face. Before I put any makeup on my face, I'll apply the MUFE HD Microperfecting primer. I have large pores around my nose area, and when you put on the primer, it kind of smooths out my skin and blurs out the pores to make it less obvious. It is light weight and non oily which is perfect for oily/combination/acne prone skin. I'll then apply my Chanel Perfection Lumiere liquid foundation. Its coverage is medium and buildable. This foundation has a matte finish. It smells really good too. However, it doesn't last all day without a primer so if you would like to skip primer, it is better to choose a longer lasting foundation. I have blemishes so I need a good concealer and I found this Bobbi Brown touch up stick has good coverage and it doesn't cake my face indeed it is very moisturize. Occasionally, I'll contour my face with Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder in milk chocolate shade. I don't put bronzer evry time I have makeup on my face, it just depends on how much time I have and where I'm heading to. This bronzer is made from real cocoa so it smells exactly like chocolate. My face smells so good every time I put it on. The shade is perfect for my light skin tone. Sometimes I'll put it all over my face to have a sun-kissed look. Next it's my favorite MAC powder blush in shade fleur power. I don't like Barbie pink blush so this coral-peachy pink is the perfect pink for blusher. It is very long lasting and doesn't dry out the skin.

For the eye makeups, I like to keep it clean and simple. I usually just use my Shiseido eyelash curler and apply few coats of Lancome Definicils mascara. I do not own a lot of mascaras. I got the Lancome on with the eyeliner on Black Friday sale. So I can't really do any comparisons but this mascara's lengthening power is pretty good and it doesn't clump. When I need to do heavier eye makeups, the Urban Decay eye potion primer is my lifesaver! I have monolids and any eyeliner that says smudge proof will smudge on my eyelids. So applying the eye potion primer is a must for me. I'm sure everyone owns couple eyeliners and my favorite pencil eyeliners are MAC Kohl pencil, Tarte skinny waterproof liner and Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on pencil. They have the smoothest eyeliner that glide on your eyelids with ease. It stays on pretty well too. There are many color choices, matte or metallic. Eyeko skinny liquid liner has a very skinny tip so you can create any size of liner. I have been watching Jen from head to toe and she uses this liquid liner a lot so I gave it a try and love it. The UD Naked2 palette is one of my new favorite. It was out for a while but I just got it last Christmas and I love it. This palette is a mix of matte and metallic shadows and all the shades are good for any occasions from school to cocktail dinner. The only downside is the excess shadows will fall on your lower eyes so do not apply too much shadows. It is very pigmented and long wearing so a little bit will do. Most importantly, the eye brow. You can't have pretty eye makeup and skip the brow part, it just looks weird without brows. I like to use the Sephora Collection retractable brow pencil because I don't need to sharp the pencil tip when it wears off and it's very convenient.

I don't like to use lipstick as it feels sticky and dry. I like the Benefit Benetint. Lipstain doesn't feel dry or sticky at all, it feels just like bare lips without any makeup. The rosie pink stain looks very natural. If you have any dinner or event to attend, just layer it as it is buildable.

So, this is it! They are all my favorite makeups and I have tried all of them and like 'em. I hope you guys enjoy reading I know this is kind of long but I hope it helps when it comes to choosing makeups.

French Manicure

How was your long weekend guys?

I was kind of bored at home and decided to change my nail color. I love coloring my nails. It's actually rare to see me with bare nails. As a college student, it's kind of unaffordable to go manicure at salon often so I prefer to do it myself and save up for school **poor college kids** :(

DIY French Manicure
I love this french manicure. It is very simple and looks really clean. It is perfect for school and work and also for those who don't like to have bright nails. I skipped the base and started off to apply 2 coats of Rimmel french manicure pro in color 140 (french rose). I then cut the clear tape into a round tip shape and taped it to my nails to create the white tip. I put a coat of Pure Ice in shade 'Super star'. I topped it with Sally Hansen strengthening top coat and ta-dahh my french manicure is done! Simple and neat.

And now a little bit of my nails story. I used to have a really bad habit which is biting my nails and it lasted for more than 10 years! I tried to quit but it never worked. I actually quit for 2 years while I had my braces then I started again when I took the braces off. I then tried to quit again and of course it failed. So I decided to apply nail polish on my nails. That's the only way preventing me from biting the nails. It worked pretty well until I got a job at the dining court in my college. I'm not allowed to put on any nail polish because my job scope is dealing with foods. Guess what?? My old habit came back grrrr!!!!

I quit my job couple months ago and I started to grow my nails and put nail polish again. *whew* So my old habit kind of went away. I wish. **finger crossed**. That's why I have very petite nails.

And since then, I love to color my nails. *YAY* I usually change my nail polish every other week now or when it starts chipping.

Crazy Winter

The weather outside is crazy! It's -15F outside with windchill. How I wish it's summer right now and I'm gonna put on my tiffany blue bikini and just chill by the beach.

I saw this cute bandeau on one of the posts on Tumblr. After I found out it's from VS, I ordered it right away and got it few days after. I fell in love with this bikini when I first opened the package. It's my favorite color! I just can't wait to wear this.

Everyday Go-to-school Pairing

Hi guys :)

I just got a new Hollister sweater and I like it so much so I made a pairing idea for it. It is great for school, shopping or running some errands.

I think this pinkish color sweater will look good with light wash denim and my favorite UGG classic short in chestnut. Don't forget to top it with a cream color knit scarf to keep yourself warm. I didn't use any accessories because this outfit is for school or errand so it is better to keep it clean and simple. I also paired it with a gold watch. I received a lot of compliments from it and it is my favorite watch. I picked this tiffany blue color large tote as I said earlier, the outfit is for school and this bag can fit all your textbooks and school supplies and of course, this simple tote matches the cute outfit. For the nails, I chose lavender color which is the color between pink and tiffany blue and I personally think it goes really well with the outfit.
